My close IIT friends
This blog is about my close friends in IIT days most of whom are now in the USA .. A significant chunk of them were my wingmates in 3rd and 4th year ...
The first and foremost is Nilesh ... my best friends during my 2nd, 3rd and 4th year at IIT .. A very sincere and sharp guy , he was instumental in all my good grades in hardware labs ... He was the once who would do my assignments ... and his room used to be our gossip center and bhat(chat ) room ... his was our common room ... After staying 1 year in India after graduation , he has moved to do PHD at University of Illionis, Urbana Champagne ... a top ranked univ ... I used to share everything with him and used to bore him also many times .. I have never seen a softspoken and down to earth guy like him ... He has a very bright future... and definately , after reaching US, I will meet him many times ... I really missed him in these two years after IIT ..... he was my wingmate also ....
The 2nd of them is harish (chutpot ) .... I donnt think I have seen a guy as sharp as him closely .... he wud never study but get much more than us in exams ... he wud listen to english songs and rock ... and he was famous for his quote " I donnt want to live like a pig , but live like a king " .....and he showed his potentiality in US also ... and he is now currently in google .. an ideal place for sharp people like him .... We used to give him GPLs till he started revolting in the end ... Harish wud not attend classes also ..esp in final years , he will hardly attend any classes or study but still wud manage to get a 9 GPA in IIT .... he is currently in san jose, california .. and we (i , him and KD ) had a wonderful time when he came to india and we spent almost a week together ... we went to so many places .....I heard of late some girl proposed harish but the matter broke off ... donno how ... I guess harish still loves sripriya ...!!!!
Kaustav was another guy whom i admired for his programming skills ... he wud do programming in shortest possible time .. currently in CMU ,Pittsburg ...USA ... his one hobby in life is just like me .. thats travelling to new places ... and I and thinking of joining him and moving to all the places ...... though kaustav was not in my hostel , but i always considered him close .... I know him from very first year beginning ....he was in my section ... he was the only one in our department in our batch to get a 10/10 during our undergrad studies .... I would really like to join him and move to various places in the USA .....
Then there was shreedhar and srinivas , shreedhar ( we used to call him sardar ) as he wud forget everything and do funny things ... like once we went to a group dinner in a hotel in a car ... and while coming out , he brought out some key from his pocket and was searching for his cycle .... plus he wud go to ground and leave his cycle there only and come back on foot ...
But sardar was a wonderful athlete , as was srini , and they were both jack of all games.... they represented our IIT in interIIT meets in multiple games .... sardar was also very simple and we used to call him bachcha .... also there was raja (ranjith ) .. he was called raja bcoz his ways were nawabi ... gorai was also a good frnd ... whom i used to bore with my stories ..but we also discuss stories of duli .... he is now doing MBA in SP Jain , Mumbai ...
There was also sas3 , who wud spend half of his time in life in gymkhana and other half in hall tempo ... and politics ..... Shreedhar is working in delhi , srinivas is working in Oracle , hyderabad and sas3 is working in Chennai .....
Then there was rajiv singhal ,he had lot of caliber to make other fool ... this caliber made him a consultant with McKinsey and now he is joining Havard Buissness school , USA ..... and needless to say , he was a very sharp and sincere guy ...
Pranav Chawla , ashok anand,nr satish , subbu and kothari were few other people i knew well ... kothari is in Oracle, USA .... Ashok is in IBM Research labs , IIT delhi and Pranav chawla after completing his MBA from IIM bangalore , has joined McKinsey in delhi recently .....
satish was our batch topper and he is doing PHD in Berkeley , California , USA and subbu is also working in Oracle, san jose, california ...

Other than my department mates , there were other people like Tirthajyoti Sarkar ... he had immense funda about everything ... and if he is drunk and u go near him, he will give you all fundas .....he is now in chicago doing PHD ... and then was bhaskar with whom there wasnt much contact after first year ... he is married now with his childhood gf who is a doctor....
Then there was ruchi , with whom still i meet sometimes whenever she is in delhi ... she is working in Schlumberger and currently in yemen .... she has been a sweet frnd of mine ...esp i ruchi and chawla used to travel together from kharagpur to delhi and vice versa ....
Another girl was neha jha who is married now ...... There were other people like niroop , deepan , suraj , bapu (piyush ) ... and so on .....
I can just go on and on writing about friends in IIT ... but somewhere i gotto stop ....
